Buildings and Vehicles

Walking near Santa Cruz High School I noticed the sign for Weeks Street and wondered how it got it’s name. After seeing the name associated with several landmark buildings, I sleuthed for more information and learned that William Henry Weeks, an architect who lived from 1864-1936, was responsible for designing the high school my sons attended, my neighborhood library, and Cocoanut Grove at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Time after time, a name engraved on a sidewalk curb or an odd little stand-alone monument led me on scavenger hunts for more details and expanded my knowledge of Santa Cruz history.
